My second week in Holland

Week #2

Monday nine o’clock in the morning. A new week full of stress has just begun. Am I supposed to leave?’

My mailbox is full of job ads sent by Greek and Dutch friends. This is really helpful. All these applications and I don’t know which one to send first. I send a lot of those but with no success. I am disappointed for sure. That’s life…

Now, I am on a daily routine. I wake up in the morning, drink a cup of coffee and eat breakfast – a healthy habit that I never used to have in Greece. Next to that, I go every day for groceries shopping at the supermarket. Wow! I am impressed by the low prices. I’m thinking ‘Normal salaries – low prices, great!’. Life in Holland seems to be really exciting.

Halloween weekend is coming up. I spend this weekend in The Hague eating boiled pumpkins and having a blast at many bars. I also went to an interesting event at an old prison building. On Sunday we went on a street tour in The Hague, the political capital of the Netherlands. It is something new for me as in Greece the parliament is located in Athens, the one and only capital of Greece. Here it seems that they have two capitals, one for every use.

Finally, I prepare a Greek dinner for my friends, with tzatziki, mpougiourdi and a Greek salad. They are impressed by the quantity and the variety on the table. We all enjoy that delicious Greek meal.

A few hours left before the third week kicks in. I am in a good mood and ready to improve my cv for the next application.
