The Refugees’ Grandmother in Idomeni – Watch the video (ENG subtitles)

The Greek border village of Idomeni is home to some 150 people, most of whom are pensioners. One of them is Panagiota Vasileiadou, 82. As a daughter of ethnic Greek refugees, she herself left Turkey in a population exchange after the 1919-1922 Greco-Turkish war. During the Second World War her family lost their house. Now this Greek grandmother is doing all she can to help refugees by giving out food and clothes, offering them hot showers and even sharing her small house with five refugees.
