This show is in English. Last Thursday on Hellas Pindakaas we hosted Meral Ari and Takis Grammatikopoulos in the studio. They are two members of the Tombaz Ensemble. We talked about the Greeks, the Dutch and the Turks – but soon the focus shifted on what unites us, rather than what divides us. And what unites people from different countries, people from all walks of life, is music. Greek, Turkish, Balkan, crossover music, prose, stories, theatrics, cabaret, tango – and many cross-national influences are just a few of the qualities that Tombaz Ensemble showcases in every live gig they do. Like the one they have at Mezrab, next Saturday February 9th!

While on the subject of music, we touched upon tango from Istanbul, music from the multicultural communities of Constantinople, rempetiko from the 30’s, balkan tunes and crossovers. But more importantly, Meral graced us with a song she sang acapella and in Greek, a song called Panselinos. This show is in English.
