Alli Mana Pa K’ Eho – 25 Feb in Amsterdam – Anna & Roberto in the studio – Listen ON DEMAND

Anna Papagiannaki Divani and Roberto Bacchilega (Alli Mana ǀ Poetry Performance and Theatre) on Hellas Pindakaas.

Portions of this show are in Greek – To listen to our show click on this link.

We talked with Anna about her birthplace, Komotini, about her studies, about music and theatre, about the philosophy of Alli Mana theatre group, and about their first production ”Alli Mana Pa K’ Eho”. With Roberto we talked about the relation between Alli Mana and Astaro Theatro, about the educational, artistic, social and even political aspect of Alli Mana and their collaboration with educational and cultural institutions in Holland, and about the social conscience and the general message of the theatrical group. We also talked with Roberto about bringing poetry onto a stage and trying to put its message across to a larger audience, trying to keep the audience engaged with poems and what they talk about. And finally we opened the discussion with Roberto and Anna to touch upon the way this performance is commenting on the broader issues of the world. Fragmentation and individualism are evident in our societies these days. What we should do, according to Alli Mana, is try to work together, as one, against those forces, towards building a bridge of common understanding and shared emotions, feelings and humanistic values.

In the first production of the Alli Mana theatre company, ten performers share their stories on stage. In ”Alli Mana Pa K’ Eho” (I Do Not Have Another Mother) in contact with poetry, commemoration and the art of forgetting, ten people (comprising actors and actresses, play writers, musicians and poets) set a multi-language performance exploring and questioning the boundaries of time, the need of belonging, the beauty of sung and spoken words – all inspired and driven by a common mission: to build a bridge.
