Terrorism and our lost values… a comment on the recent news from Turkey

It is unbelievable! These days terrorist attacks are common events. In the East the war never ends. On the other hand the West sleeps in the bed they made. Weapon industries and economic interests rule the world. Expansionist policy, economic sovereignty… and billions of innocent people are the victims of those practices. Most of us are mere observers, watching all this unfold from the comfort of our sofa. But we don’ t know if we ‘ll be next, if we will keep on being safe for much longer. We are just relieved that other people are facing harsh problems and not us. I feel very sorry and sad when I realize that planet earth is becoming for sure an unsafe place to live in.

Humanity is in crisis and it’s not so much an economic one, but rather a crisis of principles and values. I think this is the worst consequence or the source of the economic crisis. These are harsh times we live in but that should not make us look down on others or blame others for our mistakes. Unfortunately, we often focus on the differences between us, on what divides us and not on what unites us as people. Nationalist and racist attitudes are on their rise. Fear is everywhere.

It felt good to see to see the Turkish President send an invitation for cooperation between East and West against terrorism. I hope that this will be the moment when change will finally emerge and progress will continue to pave the way forward for humanity. But  I am certainly cautious in what I see and hear. I aint gonna lose hope and faith. NO! Nobody should!
