Great distinction for Greece at the Bench Weightlifting World Cup in Malaysia, as Pavlos Mamalos, participating in the category of -107 kilograms, lifted 235 kg and won the gold medal. Double success for our country in the same category, since the silver medal was won by another Greek, Costas Dimou with 220 pounds.
Both athletes have secured their qualification for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games The performance of Mamalos with 235 kg, ranked him first and added another gold medal to his rich collection, while Dimou lifted 220 kg in his attempt (he had two invalid at 225 and 229kg).
The Greek bench weightlifting team has secured five places for the Rio Games, while Gremislav Moissiadis hopes to an open participation card in his category, something which will be known in April.
