My third week in Holland… with a taste of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and … London

Week #3

Good morning… My third week in Holland starts peacefully. I apply for many different types of jobs such us call center and customer service agent – both full time and part time positions.

Smoking is one my issues I need to deal with. Three weeks now in Holland I managed to reduce my smoking from seven packs weekly to just two. It is prohibited to smoke indoors here, so I only smoke when I go for a walk.

Middle of the week finds me looking for cheap flights on the net. I love traveling. I find and book a ticket to England. There is a possibility to find a job there. I have friends that can host me for three weeks in London and Lincoln. However, I booked a return flight too, since I feel Holland as my home for now.

One of my Dutch friends prepares a Dutch meal for me – boerenkool stamppot with salad and a homemade chocolate cake. Delicious!

The weekend is coming and my second trip to Amsterdam is ahead. I walked for more than twenty two kilometers, roaming the streets of Amsterdam. Food, drinks and good old fun. I love this city. It cheers me up.

Sunday. I spend this day in Rotterdam. The city has the same population like The Hague. On the other hand this city is fancier than the other, with many pubs and lots of young people on the streets. Its architecture is different from any other city in Holland, as it was bombed in the Second World War and was rebuilt.

Finally this week comes to an end and finds me in a good mood. I look forward to my trip to England but I am scared too. I feel my future is uncertain.
